Talkin bout those trash bags... while we’ve shared a few options for more “eco friendly” bags, I think we’d all agree that the best course of action would be our third recommendation: producing as little garbage as possible by consuming less + utilizing alternatives such as composting 🌱 While researching landfills to learn a bit more detail than the basic “landfill = burried trash,” I stumbled upon the fact that some landfills take the captured gas produced by bacteria (which can be up to 50% methane) and convert it to energy - electricity, alternative fuel, or processed gas (aka alternative to natural gas). Since municipal solid waste landfills are the 3rd largest source of human-generated methane gas in the US, the EPA has endorsed the conversion of methane to electricity/alternative fuel/processed gas as an alternative to traditional fossil fuels. This is not to encourage you to keep filling up trash bags willy-nilly, but at least it’s good to know that something semi good can come out of the world filling up landfills like crazy? 🤷♀️ #sustainyourshit
