A bit of a late start to this week’s topic, but here we have it. Drying clothes đđđđ Over the years a lot of our machines have gotten more efficient. They get things done faster, use less energy, and waste less water (think washing machines, dish washers, etc đĻâĄī¸). Unfortunately, energy usage related to laundry is on the rise âšī¸ How so? Dryers! While they may be getting more efficient and good at their job, we’re relying on them more than we used to, thus using more energy. âĄī¸ (check out the Guardian article on the UK’s laundry habits linked on SustainYourShit.com - it’s a few years old, but still relevant in the laundry discussion + has some stats showing the rise of energy consumption) On top of that, we’ve become wasteful with single-use dryer sheets that get thrown away the second they come out because you get a box full of them for fairly cheap. đ¸ We had laundry detergent as a topic waaaayyy back in the day (literally the second week of Sustain Your Shit back in October 2017), so let’s keep the ball rolling and move on to the final step of the process. Suggestions this week include DIY dryer sheets, drying delicates on small foldable drying racks, and making the big leap to investing in putting a clothesline in your space. đ Let’s make a change in this weekly chore and #sustainyourshit
